On the stereo today- Metallica- And Justice For All
Well I trained last week, but I really spent most the week in a state of agitation about running the Irish Open. Everything else I just squeezed in. That being said, not half bad.
Monday
3k run. Ow, my hips hate me for this. I have to stop.
Off to the gym to lift stuff up and pull stuff down.
- Decline Bench- 5×5
- Machine row- 3×10
- Ring Push Ups 5×12
- Prone Row 3×10
- Decline weighted crunch 3×15
- Wobble Board Plank 3x60s
- Pushdowns 3×12
- Cable Hammer Curls 3×10
Worst thing about this session is the ring push ups. I actually like them as an exercise, but they were horrible this week.
Monday night training. We were wrestling from stand up and someone did a Yoko Wakare on me first round, I came down on my knee and it’s killing me since. I lamped that off the ground about a year and a half ago and tore the PCL with the very same takedown. So there’s a lesson there- accept that next time. It’s just sore and swollen. I trained the rest of the session off my back.
Wednesday
Rounds. I did 5×5 but I couldn’t go top effectively what with the knee and all, so I just played around on my back.
Friday
Quick Conditioning.
- A) Decline Bench x10, B) Single arm cable row x10, C) Alternate Knees Up x20 for 15 mins
- Bike 5 mins active rest.
- AtAt Walkers x5 sets
Just that. Not a lot of time to give.
Training Thoughts of the Week
When work takes over I just get what I can get. 20 minutes here. an hour there. I feel the effects of staying still badly. I rust!
Non-Training Thoughts of the Week
A fella called me a “Cool Motherfucker” on Sunday. He’d overheard me speaking to an irate guy, and as the guy began to raise his voice I said “I’m happy to speak to you, but we won’t continue this conversation if you raise your voice”. The guy dropped his voice, and we kept speaking.
I just had to laugh. That’s not cool, that’s called practice from having teenage sons!
See you on the mat!
