On the stereo today- Arctic Monkeys- AM
I’m actually in the headphones here as the kids summer camps are in full swing for the third and final week. A decent week’s training as I’ve upped it slightly in NoGi. No time for any gym work as I spent some work time on a project. I’m starting a new gym venture.
Monday
Gi positionals and rounds. 20 mins of positional followed by 4x5min rounds.
Tuesday
NoGi training. 20 mins of back control finishing rounds, followed by 4x3min fast rounds from standing. Decent, but I’d spent the day hauling strength training equipment down 2 flights of stairs which didn’t help me much.
Wednesday
5 minute rounds x7. Very light session. My back was in ribbons from the work the day before so I just played around a lot to get loose.
Friday
10am session with Roger D. He’s really good training. No errors go unpunished. Mentally more than physically taxing which was a good change. We set 5×10 min rounds but a few of those were more like 6 or 7.
Saturday
NoGi Competition training.
Light warm up, then finishing rounds- 10min back, 10 min mount, 10 min side control, then 3x7min rounds. Good session.
Training Thoughts of the Week
Work was really physical this week, and every time it is I get a new appreciation for the lads who are on the trades who come in and train after a tough day.
Non-Training Thoughts of the Week
I’m putting together a new podcast right now on Youth Coaching, and I’m looking for your submissions and thoughts about the direction that it’s going in martial arts. If you have any thoughts on the matter, send them to barry@kyuzo.ie
See you on the mat!
