2026 Training Log Part 1

On the stereo today- The Lemonheads

Monday

You idiot.

Jiu Jitsu, freezing cold. No warm up. Jumped in with the lads for some sparring for 30 minutes. One day, I’ll remember I’m not 27 anymore. I’m not even 37! Why am I saying this? Well because…

Tuesday

… I woke up this morning aching and paining because I didn’t warm up before sparring last night. Low back kept me awake most of the night. Little sleep, in some discomfort, but sure look. I’m an idiot.

Pushing and pressing this morning.

  1. Close Grip bench 5×8
  2. Single arm machine press 2xmax
  3. Med ball push ups 3×20
  4. Plank 3x 60s
  5. Tricep pushdowns 3×12
  6. Lying tri extensions 2xmax

Sauna for 20 minutes.

Wednesday

Jiu Jitsu in the evening was a bust for the first Wednesday ever! I love my Wednesday sessions but my back was just too tight.

Thursday

Back and biceps so it was. Worked a little on looseing out my mid back for about 40 minutes and then on to-

  1. Pendlay rows w/u to 5RM
  2. Inverted rows 4×10
  3. Single arm cable rows 3×15
  4. 45 back raise 3×15
  5. Side plank 3×45 each side
  6. EZ curls 3×12
  7. Hammer curls 2×20

Friday

Yoga.

No really. I did Yoga. 45 minutes at home.

Saturday

Jiu Jitsu.

Long and taxing warm up, but good for getting the back loose.

25 minutes first score positionals.

4×6 minute rounds from stand up.

Very enjoyable.

Training Thoughts of the Week

I’ll have to give my Jiu Jitsu a back seat for a few weeks as I work on a project. I cannot reveal it just yet but I’m very excited and I think you will be too. Stay tuned!

Non-Training Thoughts of the Week

They talk about work/life balance. Who are “they”? I don’t know, but I haven’t slept properly in 4 days because I don’t have any of this so-called balance!
