2025 Training Log Part 24

On the stereo today- Everything Must Go- Manic Street Preachers

I actually lost my original vinyl copy of this album when I broke up with an old girlfriend. Massive regret.

Monday

A bit of a mixed bag of a week started with a mixed bag of a day.

Gym work first-

  1. Bench Press 5×5
  2. Unsupported row 4×8
  3. Single arm machine press 3×12
  4. Face Pulls 3×15
  5. Weighted crunch 3×20
  6. Wobble board plank 3×60
  7. Cable kickbacks 3×15
  8. Cable hammer curl 3×10

Monday night rolls were a bit crap. I just had one of those sessions where I couldn’t rev my engine. I blame it on not rehydrating after the sauna earlier. 5/10

Wednesday

Lower body in the gym.

  1. 10 mins bike on high tension
  2. Nordic curls 5×8
  3. Goblet squat 5×15
  4. Step ups 3×12
  5. Core work x10min circuit
  6. Boxing 3x3min bag work

Seemed like nothing, hurt like hell the next day. Went to gig that night so missed my Wednesday session.

Friday

Show and Go session.

  1. Bench 5×12
  2. A) Single Arm Row 5×8 B) Med ball Push Ups 5×20
  3. Machine row 3×20
  4. A) Battle Ropes 50 reps B) Bodyweight Squat x10 x10mins
  5. 10 min bike

A quick and tough mish-mash of a session.

Saturday

Competition training.
15min Master Kimura Warm Up
9*5min rounds. Very good session. Very tough. Very intense.

Training Thoughts of the Week

Feeling a bit tight the last month, so I definitely need to pay a little more attention to warm ups and prehab work. So I put some more time and focus into my mobility warm ups before every session this week and the difference was tangible. The warm up on Saturdays is intense and long, but by the end of it, I’m loose as can be and ready to train.

Non-Training Thoughts of the Week

I have many bad habits, but the one that is effecting me right now is my reading habit. I was up until 1.30am reading last night. What an idiot! I just can’t put a good book down. I won’t show a picture of my bedside locker but it’s a state. I have 9 books on the go right now. I finished one fiction last night (hence the late night) and I have another thriller I stepped out of I’m going to finish. I’ve a few non-fiction that I’m dipping in and out of from time to time, and I’ve 3 history books. There’s also one or two that I just have there that I may never finish. Just bad purchases. Of course, everyone in my house asks “How are your reading them all?”. Well, I am. I’ll get there in the end.
