clinch, MMA

First Session of 2009 is over

And boy do I feel good about it. Light evening last night, some pads for everyone else in Muay Thai and then some rolling plus some kimura technique in BJJ. Very nice though I made the big mistake of making a chicken curry for dinner which gave me heartburn for the whole night. Overall, an enjoyable return to training though.

Tonight is the first night of the new MMA 101 class. Here’s what people can expect from tonight’s session:
Pummelling basics for greco clinch- how to pummel with a partner and why. This will cover cooperative and non-cooperative pumelling. This will form part of the warm up.
Clinch basics- head position, underhooks, neck ties and crashing. This is the ‘call out’ drill that many of the old skool guys will remember. Ain’t done it in a while but it’s an ideal drill for beginners.
That will take up an hour or so. And you’ll sweat, oh yes you’ll sweat.

  1. I had a blast at the jitz last night. I was kind of nervous due to my long break but I was grand. Bit rusty with set-ups from bottom. I thought I would make the mma tonight too but had to change plans at the last minute.
