I keep getting texts and emails commiserating me on my loss at the weekend. They’re all pretty funny. Most of them are like my dog died, and others are just pick me ups. Some samples below, try to pick your one out…
“Yo heard u got ur ass kicked u should quit now old man ha ha talk soon buddy”
“Hey man hard luck. Never mind you just have to get back in next time”
“Don’t get too down about it you trained well and gave it your best. Next time you’ll be stronger”
“Your too fat n old for fightin now if youve any sense youll remember those that cant- teach!”
“You’re a warrior man it’s just one of those things you’ll be back”
“Quit whining bitch!”
So in case you haven’t already guessed, I lost my fight on Saturday in quick fashion. It was short and crazy and I could easily have won it in the same time but went all out for glory early on instead of playing safe off my back. I can live with that, it’s not the end of the world it’s only a fight. Dissappointing of course, but just a loss. I have some busy times coming up so I’m not sure when I’ll get back in the ring but I’m planning a Muay Thai fight and a few more MMA fights before I hang up my gloves, big or small. I was thinking about calling it a day but I’m not finished yet. I’d more or less decided that before the fight.
I have to also give a big shout out to Keith The Artful Dodger Pendred who went out against a hugely partisan crowd and knocked out the local boy in the first fight of the night. Sods llaw of fighting a local is never leave it to the judges and he used his big right hand, his huge leg kicks and a lot of pure old fashioned brass balls to finish his opponent in round two.
Barry you scare me when you think
Hard luck Barry. It’s all experience though. 🙂
